The difference is positioned at the swab’s bottom. By shoving the cotton bud in its case, it is pushed against a polyurethane sponge This sponge is permeated with 1 ml liquid transport medium and serves as moisturizing reservoir. By pushing the cotton top against the sponge the liquid medium is directly mixed with the sample by capillarity. Benefits:No ampoule needs to be broken, nor does the membrane need to be penetrated.No longer dried out samples.The swab has direct contact with the permeated sponge.
