Gynaecological brushes/spatulas for endo- and ectocervical sampling

CellPath endocervical brushes offer an extremely effective method of collecting vulval, buccal, endocervical and nasal surface samples for cytological/microbiological examination.
Since its introduction the effectiveness in comparison to conventional scrubs has beendemonstrated in many trials. Cellular material collected is easily transferred by simply rolling the brush along the surface of the microscope slide.
Endocervical brushes are for single use only and when used for cytological purposes shouldnormally be used in conjunction with a spatula.
They are not intended for use during pregnancy.
The hexagonal stem is enlarged at the larger section to give improved grip - a benefit to the smear taker especially when wearing examination gloves.

The unique specially shaped CerviBrush+ Profile collects material from the ectocervix andendocervical zones simultaneously. Both patient and smear taker will benefit from thissingle use device.
Cells are rapidly transferred to the slide using a rolling action, resulting in an even Cervibrushes, labelled vials, instruction sheet, MSDS, and forms distribution of material over the slide. Cells can be fixed immediately, soreducing air-drying artefacts.
A snap off head version - the CerviBrush+ Profile LBC is now available for clinics usingLiquid Based cytology. After collecting the specimen in the usual manner, the brush headcan be inserted into the preservative vial and the head snapped off ensuring the laboratoryreceives the entire sample collected.
Trials conducted at the Queen Elizabeth hospital, Gateshead, UK in 1990 (1) showed thatthe CerviBrush+ Profile produced a single smear which was at least as good as two separate preparations made using an Ayre spatula and a conventional endocervical brush.
The brush head is securely moulded into the stem together with an enlarged hexagonalhandle for easy rotation.
